Helping pupils back into education
We specialise in designing places for learning, sharing, collaboration and community.
Drawing on extensive experience in the education sector, we apply a people-first approach to design that always prioritises the experience of those who will be living, working or learning in the spaces that we create.
Over the last 6 years we have been working in collaboration with innovative SEND school provider The Aurora Group to provide places where young people can learn and thrive, away from the mainstream education system.
Distinctly and deliberately non-institutional in spirit, we have helped convert all manner of sites across the country – from listed country homes to golf clubhouses – into specialist learning environments for young people with a wide range of needs. All of the new-build schools we design are net-zero carbon and Passivhaus where practicable.

e-gg works to adapt, extend and retrofit a former nursing home to provide a nature-rich alternative to mainstream education for young people with learning difficulties.

Transforming a 1970s Brutalist building into a school for children with additional social, emotional and mental health needs.
Set within a relatively constrained site a short distance from the city centre, the former adult learning centre required a substantial retrofit to facilitate The Aurora Group’s exceptional education and support for vulnerable young people in Derby.

Delivering designs for a collaborative development in the green belt that would provide much-needed new homes alongside a new-build SEND school. The proposed school is for young people with learning difficulties, who need a quiet and calm environment in order to thrive.
